Alternate Delegate Status

New for 2012 Congress  - there will be NO alternate designation for delegates.  Chapters may still keep track of their own alternates, but there will be NO alternate designation on the badge or in the delegate selection system.  This change was made for two reasons – 1) The alternate position is a non-voting position, and 2) AORN would like to encourage those members who would normally be a chapter alternate to register as a self-appointed delegate so their voice can be heard and their vote would count at the House of Delegates.

All individuals who would normally be assigned to the alternate position are encouraged to register as a self-appointed delegate.  Once assigned as a self-appointed delegate, you can easily change to a chapter delegate with the permission of your delegate chair.  If you have any questions, contact dwarren@aorn.org or axtse@ah.org
